Frequently Asked Questions
Ask Petit Coeur
What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained person who provides continuous physical, emotional and educational support before, during and after birth, partner included. A doula is not a healthcare professional.
Do you have a payment plan?
I want to support and work with you. Financial circumstances should not inhibit your desire to have a Doula support you. I would love to talk to you personally about the ways I can work with you on spreading payments out in a custom plan.
Why should I hire a doula?
Having doula support can:
Lowers the percentage of epidural use.
Reduce the need for labor-inducing drugs.
Can lead to shorter labors with fewer complications.
Lead to greater success with breastfeeding and adaptations to the new family dynamic.
Can lessen postpartum depression and build self-confidence.
Are you adjusting to COVID-19 safe practices?
Giving birth during a pandemic may have brought forth more safety concerns towards your decision in having a Doula, however your safety and well-being are my top priority.
Coordinating meetings will always be communicated through phone or email and can be planned for either an outdoor area at home or close area/place.
Common assessment screenings through phone or email of possible exposure and COVID symptoms before meeting.
Gloves, masks, and proper sanitation before, during and after prenatal/postpartum visits and birth.
Virtual sessions and Doula support are available.
Exposure notification must be given to reschedule a face to face visit to a virtual one.
Will my partner feel left out of my birthing experience?
All partners will feel equally comforted and active in the birthing process. I as your doula do not take the roll of your partner (if applicable), but I will make sure that your partner is involved in the labor and birth of their baby by offering guidance and ideas on how to read what you as the birthing person needs.
Are you an equal opportunity Doula?
Absolutely! I believe every birth matters and I strive to provide the birthing experience every birthing person and couple deserves.
Where are you located and do you travel?
Do you provide more services?
Yes, in addition to birth doula services I offer:
Breast Feeding/Lactation services
Soon to come:
Child Birth Education- TBA
Postpartum Support - TBA
I am located in Tampa, Florida and Dallas, Texas. I consider myself a traveling doula. All packages will be as priced for birth support within 1hr 30mins from Tampa and Dallas. If you do live outside of that time frame or mileage there is a travel package or virtual support available.
